Waterproofing & Construction Chemicals

Substructure Waterproofing

Substructure waterproofing often involves the use of waterproofing membranes. There are different types of membranes, including bituminous membranes, PVC membranes, and liquid-applied membranes. The choice of membrane depends on factors such as the type of structure, soil conditions, and the presence of water tables. Bituminous membranes are commonly used for substructure waterproofing due to their durability and resistance to soil chemicals.

Proper drainage is essential in substructure waterproofing to prevent the accumulation of water around the structure. Drainage boards or dimpled membranes are often installed to create a drainage path, allowing water to move away from the structure. Additionally, protection layers, such as geotextiles, are used to shield the waterproofing membrane from potential damage during backfilling or construction activities.

Effective waterproofing in substructures requires attention to details such as joint sealing and penetration points. Construction joints, pipe penetrations, and other openings must be carefully sealed using appropriate waterproofing materials to prevent water ingress. The detailing of waterproofing around structural elements is critical to maintaining the integrity of the waterproofing system.

Roof Waterproofing

Roofs can be waterproofed using various materials, such as bituminous membranes, thermoplastic membranes (like TPO or PVC), and liquid-applied coatings. The choice depends on factors like the roof structure, climate, and maintenance considerations. Bituminous membranes are often used for flat roofs, while thermoplastic membranes are popular for their flexibility and reflective properties.

Flashing is crucial in roof waterproofing to seal joints, transitions, and penetrations. Proper installation and maintenance of flashing around roof edges, vents, skylights, and other openings are essential to prevent water infiltration. Seam integrity is also critical for membrane roofs, ensuring that seams are properly welded or adhered to create a continuous and watertight surface.

Proper roof slope and drainage design are essential for preventing water ponding and ensuring effective water runoff. Flat roofs may incorporate a slight slope to facilitate drainage, while sloped roofs should have a well-designed drainage system, including gutters and downspouts. Regular maintenance of these components is crucial to prevent water-related issues.

Both substructure and roof waterproofing are integral components of a building’s envelope, and their proper implementation is essential for protecting the structure from water damage and ensuring its long-term durability. Professional expertise and adherence to industry standards are crucial in achieving effective waterproofing solutions.

Manhole / Access Covers

Solid top Square,
Circular & Rectangular Covers

Circular manhole covers are generally more versatile in terms of their ability to rotate and fit into openings regardless of their orientation. They are interchangeable, and their circular design allows for rotation, making it easier for workers to align them with the opening during installation. Square and rectangular covers may be less forgiving in terms of alignment, and their orientation matters when fitting them into the frame.

Solid Top
Multi Leaf Cover

Carriageway covers and telecom covers are types of access covers used to provide access to underground utilities or structures.

Recessed Covers

also known as inset or tray covers, are designed to be installed flush with the surrounding surface to create a more aesthetically pleasing and safer environment

Gas & Air Tight
Inspection
Chamber Covers

covers play a crucial role in infrastructure, providing access to utility services while preventing the leakage of gases or air.

Trench Grates
/ Gully Grating

Commonly spotted practically everywhere. However, the difference in design also is responsible for the usability of the grates.

Surface Box /
Valve Box

also known as valve boxes or access boxes, are components used in various infrastructure systems to provide access to valves, meters, or other utilities at or near the ground surface

New Age Solutions for Infrastructure

Rock-fall Protection

Rockfall protection measures are essential in areas where there is a risk of rocks or debris falling from slopes, cliffs, or other elevated terrain. These measures aim to enhance safety for people and protect infrastructure from potential rockfall hazards

Buried Pipe
Protective Tapes

Protective tapes are materials applied to the external surface of buried pipes to provide an additional layer of defense against corrosion and damage.

Tunneling

Tunneling is a construction method used to create underground passages for various purposes, including transportation, utilities, and mining.

Piling & Shoring

Piling and shoring are construction techniques used to provide foundation support and excavation support, respectively.
